Rita's Homework~

(1)What do you see in the future in regards to technology and educational technology?
I think technology and educational technology will bring us a convenient life. Digital life, such as video-meeting, long-distance learning, visual reality help us save much time. I can see my house and family via digital products while I work in my office. Maybe robots will help us a lot and replace people to operate machine. So I think technology and educational technology will have a great advance in the future.

(2)If you were granted $20,000 to use in your school for educational technology,
how would you use it?
If I were granted $20,000 to use in my school for educational technology, I would use it to buy some Educational Software, Hardware and some Assistive Technology (AT) such as “ZoomText 9.1“ for special needs students such as weak-sighted students or for regular students. This software has many functions to help me to teach my students. I also want to buy some new hardware, such as Electric White Board, laptop, laser printer and so on. I think those software and hardware are very useful for me to teach my students.

(3)How would you use a portfolio (think about grants, raises, changes in position,
like the building techie, etc.
I used a portfolio to apply for my job of teaching in Dong-Men Elementary School. I think the portfolio apply to education is focus on process folio. My portfolios included “Personal information”, ”Personal specialty”,”The document of my internship”, ”Teaching introspection”, ”The feedback of students”, ”Reading reports” and so on.I collected much supplement in my portfolios for teaching my students. And I also asked all of my students to create their own portfolios. Their portfolios included their “Personal Information”,” Creations”, “Reading Reports”, and so on. I think portfolios can record the learning process of the students. And students’ parents can know more about their children’s learning in the school via portfolios.

(4)What would you or have you included in a portfolio -- think back to the one you
needed to create for Undergrad and/or to get your current job (this can be paper or
electronic or a combo)
I used a paper-based portfolio to apply for my job of teaching in Dong-Men Elementary School.My portfolios included“Personal information”,”Personal specialty”,”The document of my internship”, ”Teaching introspection”, ”The feedback of students”, ”Reading reports” and so on. I think the portfolio is used as a marketing tool in selling myself for personal advancement. I think I can use the E-portfolio while I want to be a dean in the future.

Rita's Homework-Assistive Technology (AT)

We have talked about how you can use some of the software tools (like WP, SS, etc) for your students with special needs. This chapter discusses some of the classroom tools. Now, please find one piece of Assistive Technology(AT), give the web address, and explain how it can be used in the classroom - This can apply to something you already use or something you would like to use or get more info about. This AT can be applied in the classroom for special needs students or for regular ed.Give the web address of one piece of support software you currently use or would like to use.

This Assistive Technology (AT)“ZoomText 9.1“can be applied in the classroom for special needs students such as weak-sighted students or for regular students. I don't have weak-sighted students so I'll focus on regular students. This software has many functions to help me to teach my students. The function about "Reading Zones" allow me to teach them instantly see and hear selected locations in my applications. Define up to ten zones per application that I can trigger via pop-up menu or keyboard commands.I can via the function of "Full Internet Accessibility" to teach my students to read any web page, in the proper reading order, and read automatically or manually navigate by word, line, sentence and paragraph.I can also use the function of "Text Navigation" to help my students to read. Navigation keys make it easy to read while creating and editing documents. With simple commands we can read by character, word, line, sentence and paragraph, even while selecting text. I think this Assistive Technology (AT) "ZoomText 9.1" is useful for me to teach my students.

Rita's Homework- MultiMedia

(1)How can you/do you use MultiMedia (for example Powerpoint /Desktop Publishing/Video/Audio) in your classroom?
I can use Powerpoint to display my teaching plans to my students and their parents.I also can
use Video,Audio to display important information ,such as texts, graphics, sound ,animation that I want to tell my students in the classroom.

(2)How can you/do you/do you want to use Multimedia in your classroom?
Yes, I want to use Multimedia, such as Powerpoint, Video , Audio to display some key-point information or graphics, sound ,animation to my students in the classroom. I also can teach my students how to use“Powerpoint”to do their report or their personal file, and they can show their personal file to others in the classroom. Multimedia can provide an interactive, multisensory learning experience, which motivates the learner and improves the quality of learning.

(3)How can you/do you use a digital camera/scanner or other mulitmedia devices in the classroom?
I can use a digital camera to take some pictures and show the pictures to my students in the classroom. Besides, I also can use DVD-ROM player to show them some interesting films or additional materials of their learning. I think it will encourage their learning.

(1)How do you use Database?
I use Database, such as "Access" to create information sheet about my student's personal information and communicative information.

(2)How do your students use Database?
They can use Database to create the communicative information sheet to their friends or classmates.

(3)What else would you like to do with DB - think in terms ofstudent tools/assessment as well as teacher productivity.
I would like to use Database, such as "Access" to create the catalogue of books of our classroom and my students can use“Access" to search which books they are interested in a short time.

(4)How do you use Spreadsheets?
I use Spreadsheets, such as "EXCEL" to calculate grade of my students and to create balance-sheet to record my income and expense every month.

(5)How do your students use Spreadsheets?
They use Spreadsheets, such as "EXCEL" to process statistical material.

(6)What else would you like to do with SS - think in terms ofstudent tools/assessment as well as teacher productivity.
I would like to use Spreadsheets , such as "EXCEL" to calculate student's grade in peacetime then I can input their average to the grade processing system of school. And I can use it to calculate the final grade of all subjects of my students.

(1) How do you use Word Processing Software?
I use it to create tests, write reports. Sometimes I use it to write diary.

(2)How do your students use Word Processors?
They use Word Processors to write reading reports .

(3)What else would you like to do with WP - think in terms of
student tools/assessment as well as teacher productivity.

I'm thinking of creating a blog and asking my students to create a web-page or blog
about themselves to hyperlink to my blog. I'll design assignments and use it to
assign some homework. I'm also thinking of putting the pictures of school activities
so students can see their pictures and download them. It's a way to share our living
record and information while saving some money from not printing the pictures.
